Great news!  The City of North Vancouver has scheduled a public hearing for City Council to consider our rezoning application on Monday, July 9, 2018.  This is a huge milestone, after three-and-a-half years of building a group, putting our money together, purchasing land and designing a community.

But rezoning applications can be contentious, and the future of Driftwood Village Cohousing depends on City Council's approval.  Please consider supporting our community by sending your input to the City Clerk's office in advance!

Submitting feedback

  • Send an email or a letter to the City Clerk at

  • It's best to send your feedback by MONDAY, JULY 2nd, so your letter will be included in Council's printed agenda package
  • (Better late than never? Submissions are accepted until 4 pm on Monday, July 9th)

What do I say?

  • Tell them why our cohousing community would be a great addition to the City of North Vancouver!  The staff report and plans are available under useful documents; we have a list of benefits; and two sample letters for you to personalize.

Who is driftwood?

Our group is a diverse group of singles, couples, families with kids, and retirees who have come together to create a cohousing community. Rather than feeling over-extended or isolated, we want a more practical and social lifestyle, based on co-operation, respect and caring for our neighbours.

Our community is near capacity with our existing membership, so we are no longer searching for additional members.  Due to the long length of our waitlist and the small number of potential units, we are no longer adding names to the waitlist.

Stay in touch

We are no longer searching for additional members. However, if you're still interested in cohousing, please stay on our email list, as any future cohousing groups may ask us for interested households.
